Why Specialist Legal Translators Matter

Legal translation is not general translation. Every area of law has its own terminology, procedural language, and statutory framework. A translator who handles family law needs to understand the Children Act 1989 and the language of care proceedings. An immigration translator must know Home Office decision-making terminology and the structure of tribunal bundles.

Legal matters can use very different terminology and document conventions. We review the subject matter when assigning a linguist, and any requirement for particular legal experience, qualifications or terminology knowledge can be confirmed before work begins.

The aim is to produce clear, accurate legal translations prepared for the requirements of the instruction. Any court, tribunal or authority-specific submission requirement should be confirmed for the case.
